Dr. James T. Mellonig Memorial Dinner and AAP Foundation Hoedown:

In 2021, periodontology lost one of its greats. We will gather to pay homage to the legacy of the late Dr. James T. Mellonig. Tickets to this event are $350 per person, including a gift to the AAP Foundation. Guests will enjoy an elegant dinner and drinks, and share their memories of this legend of periodontology.

Following the dinner, get your boots on and get ready to two‐step the night away! Enjoy the toetapping sounds of a live local Austin band, drinks, appetizers, and the opportunity to let your hair down with friends and colleagues. Our line dancing instructor will show the crowd the latest steps, and you can take your memories home with our fun photo booth.

Both events will be held at the iconic Speakeasy Austin, built in the 1870s and located in the Congress Avenue Historic District. We expect at least 50 people at the Mellonig Memorial Dinner and at least 200 at the Hoedown. Guests will include AAP and AAP Foundation leaders and the Foundation’s most generous donors.

PerioDash:

Following 8 years of successful virtual runs, this year the AAP Foundation is hosting PerioDash 2023, a virtual run to raise awareness around the Foundation and how we help strengthen the specialty. Runners will sign up and complete a 5K run/walk at their own pace, on their own time. Runners will each receive a PerioDash 2023 T-shirt and medal.

Younger constituents love this popular event, many form their own teams.

In 2022, more than 350 people ran or walked in PerioDash. Runners participate as individuals, as part of practice teams, school teams, and more. They come up with fun, creative team names, such as “The Vertical Defects”, “Floss Posse”, and “Gingiva Ninjas”. This is a fun, well-loved event that will afford your company vital positive representation.

Sponsor benefits include acknowledgment on periofoundation.org, acknowledgment in Periospectives, the AAP’s quarterly magazine, acknowledgment on all race communications, and your company logo on the T-shirt.

AAP Foundation Silent Auction:

The AAP Foundation Online Silent Auction has become the centerpiece of the AAP Foundation booth. Each year, periodontists, spouses, and other staff browse the more than 100 items donated by exhibitors, board members, committee members, and partner companies.

The Auction raises around $40,000 for the AAP Foundation, and is an eye-catching display. Full-color photos and descriptions of each item will be on display at our booth, but bidders will participate via their smartphones. They will be able to bid any time, anywhere, and will receive notifications when they’ve been outbid.

Sponsor benefits include acknowledgment on periofoundation.org, acknowledgment in Periospectives, the AAP’s quarterly magazine, acknowledgment on online silent auction bidding platform, and acknowledgment on Silent Auction signage at meeting.
