Physician Outreach
Expert speakers and information booths at conferences devoted to medical specialties related to periodontal disease offer unique opportunities for AAP Foundation staff and Levi-Richman Integration Initiative volunteers to connect with the physicians whose patients are most in need of referral for periodontal care and treatment.
Many AAP Foundation award recipients and other periodontists are highly qualified to speak at medical and dental conferences on the oral-systemic link and its implications for care of patients with chronic conditions ranging from cardiovascular disease and endocrine disease, to rheumatoid arthritis, dementia, cancer, and many others.
Enabling Periodontist and Resident Advocacy
Activities such as PerioDash and our Greeting Card Program create opportunities for residents and practicing periodontists to raise awareness of periodontal disease, the importance of treating it, and the dedicated specialists who can help.
Student Ambassadors and Practice and Academic Ambassadors connect qualified applicants with the AAP Foundation’s scholarships, fellowships, educational programs, and research grants and awards; help organize PerioDash teams; and advise the Foundation on its programs and activities.
